Container House Camp - Bahamas provides Accommodation for 800 workers - gs housing

China National Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) undertook the aid project for the Bahamas National Stadium, located in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, with a total construction area of approximately 18,000 square meters. GS Housing provided a packaged container camp for this project to meet the accommodation needs of 800 workers.

Given that the Bahamas has a tropical marine climate with high humidity and is frequently affected by hurricanes, the temporary structures must meet extremely high requirements for wind and moisture resistance. Therefore, GS Housing took these factors into consideration and implemented the following solutions:

1. Strengthened the structural framework of the container units.

2. Used rock wool sandwich panels for the walls to enhance moisture and wind resistance.

3. Treated the base of the containers with anti-corrosion and anti-rust measures and raised the foundation.

4. Designed the roof with a four-slope pitched structure to facilitate drainage and prevent water accumulation.

The local electrical standards in the Bahamas follow the American standard, so the pre-installed wiring, sockets, and other electrical components in the walls adhere to the American standard specifications, which are 110V/60Hz.

This project utilized standardized container modules produced by GS Housing, which were prefabricated in the factory and assembled on-site, significantly reducing the construction period. The modular design also minimized on-site construction waste, aligning with the concept of green construction.

The camp features a “回”-shaped layout with single-story external walkways and glass curtain walls. It includes functional areas such as dormitories, toilets, showers, offices, and a canteen, meeting the daily living needs of 800 people.
